About Me

About Me

Hi, I’m Eddie.

I’m a recovering bad team leader and business owner.

Over the years, I’ve made more mistakes than you can count —and I want to help you avoid them. My goal is to set you and your team up to win.

My Story

The theme of “Something from Nothing” runs consistently through my life.

I’ve been an entrepreneur in small business for over 30 years. In that time, I’ve founded companies that have worked with some of the world’s biggest brands, all with minimal resources and seed money. Along the way, I’ve experienced the highs of success and the lows of failure, working with family businesses, startups, and ventures that didn’t make it.

One months before COVID hit, I bought into a multi-million-dollar company—only to face near bankruptcy 14 months later. My wife and I had tough conversations with bankruptcy trustees, grappling with the possibility of losing everything. But with a decimated, but solid team around us, we collectively turned the business around.

Through my journey, I’ve dealt with toxic team environments, difficult personalities, and complex shareholder drama. I’ve learned how to navigate hard conversations, hold people accountable with dignity, and foster a culture of ownership and accountability.

I’ve also faced my own shortcomings. My biggest battle is the battle between my ears.  Dealing with unforgiveness and resentment has been a personal journey, and I’m far from finished.

I created Something from Nothing to share my experiences in small business and management—about rebuilding departments from scratch, starting over, creating systems, and hiring excellent people.

I’ve had no formal education but hold three U.S. patents. I’ve rebuilt 20-year-old departments and 70-year-old Land Rovers, both without training.  I’ve taught myself 3D CAD and turned around a design department.  I’ve taught myself musical instruments without formal training.  Most of what I’ve done has been creating Something from Nothing.

And I’ve got stories to tell.
